Division From Within

Hey guys it’s Blake; I know it has been a while. I have something on my heart that I want to share. Since ParablePreacher season 2 ended, I’ve been doing a lot of assessments on the world and myself while focusing on my own journey with God. With that being said, I’m seeing so much division in our society and organizations but, there is only one person to blame–Satan.
In the wake of this political battle for the presidency, there has been a division
among my friends, associates, and I see it happen in the church. This isn’t anything new as this is just something that happens and unfortunately see history–war has happened because of this, so I wanted to see how God viewed this and to find the source of it as I knew Satan had something to do with this. So I found something from Proverbs 6:16-19 (ESV) which said, “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sow discord among brothers.” Now I hear folks say that it is Old Testament, but let me tell you that it’s here for our learning and it wouldn’t be added to the Bible if it wasn’t necessary to have. Also, these are things that the Lord hates and that is something to take note of for future reference for those who think the Lord only loves.
Then I noticed how destructive life can be and unproductive things can get when there is division. Arguments, divorce, lack of progress, anger, confusion, and even death. We are all aware of how Satan wants to destroy and take away the joy we have and let me tell you that 2020 has taken a lot and more than it had any business doing.

Even Jesus was aware of this and prayed for unity for all in John 17: 1-5 (ESV), “When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.” Jesus even goes on praying for his disciples and future believers–us as we are to be united in our missions to not only save souls but in everything that we do.
At this time in my life, I strive to be united in my local church to work for Christ and the world has to do the same thing by not being divided into our overall goals for the better. This doesn’t mean to be agreeable on ALL matters but being able to respect our differences as some of us can be stubborn–like me. Satan has always been a divider, and the easiest way to overcome such attacks from him is by learning to work together by having some type of understanding. When we take the time to stop focusing on the, “I’m right and you’re wrong” we can accomplish so much together and grow in the process.
